I heard somebody else here refer to Israel as depraved the other day in response to an Israeli business owner using a prisoner video to advertise their business. I thought it was a bit harsh, but they really are turning out to be a country of monsters. The US and Europe should cut all ties and throw them to the wolves. I am sure most of the world thinks of Israel and the US as interchangeable anyway. The graph also shows that (since 1994) those two groups that want unification (whether now or later) have fallen from 20% to the current 7.4%.

The number who want independence at some later date has almost tripled since 1994 (8.0% ti 21.9%), whereas the number who want independence immediately or a.s.a.p. is very small and has barely changed (3.1% to 4.4%).

It suggests to me that whatever else most Taiwanese want they do not want conflict or violence with mainland China.

It certainly doesn’t suggest that any significant percentage of Taiwanese want reunification with the PRC today. Anybody have any insights into the nitty gritty details of the 30 years of polling or whether or not we should be suspicious of the Election Study Center at NCCU?

I always thought “jury-rig” was a nautical term that fell out of use centuries ago and has only reappeared because some people who heard the phrase “jerry-rigged” and were not familiar with the word “jerry” thought they must have said “jury”. I think that for the gun industry/lobby it is all about the money, but it is about hatred, fear, and revulsion of the outgroup for the rank and file. Most businesses (even ones riddled with MAGA) would happily sell their wares to trans, browns, gays, muslims, etc. out of one side of their mouth, while decrying these groups and their rights out of the other side.

To be fair, the cynic in me says Sanders never would have become president. Even if the DNC had let primaries take their natural course and Sanders had come out of it with the most electoral votes, then the DNC would have just brokered their convention and given it to Biden or Bloomberg anyway. If they somehow didn’t do that and Bernie was the actual candidate from the D side, the mainstream media coverage of him would have all sounded like Fox News or Newsmax fluffing Trump. All his major media coverage would have been Marxist chicken-littling. If, even after all that, Bernie somehow won in November of 2020, he never would have made it to the inauguration. He (and his VP candidate) would have had a little accident, a la Jeffrey Epstein, Paul Wellstone, Vince Foster, Terrance Yeakey, etc.

Gee, I wonder if the corporations will win these cases?
