Synesthesia is any kind of crossing of senses. I had a friend in college who had synesthesia for colors and smells and shapes (I apparently smell like a purple and orange blobby shape) but she also had these weird ways of visualizing time that was also in a similar vein. It’s pretty complex and multifaceted.

I actually think everyone should have to do two things before they hit their mid-20s in order to fix most of the problems of the world:

The first is to take a hallucinogen. Get out of your own head for a minute and see the world from a different perspective. Too many of us can’t do this.

The second is to work as a server in a restaurant. Nuff said.
