yes there is problems for sure, that metadata issue is one i shoulda touched on in the video. i do think things can improve though, and im a very optimistic person :P

im not sure xmpp is as ready for people coming from discord to move to it, but i also recognise that as much of a pain as its been in my experience, equally as much as with matrix, things can improve!

totally fair! the biggest difficulty with something like this is getting people to actually use it :P

big fan of matrix here,‎ im not sure itll last but id be happy if it did. it might be a bit overwhelming for the matrix‎.org instance though. hopefully more servers will be popping up and people can move to them
