  • You could split Valve Dev from Distribution from Hardware. But that is a shitty split, I’m with you.

You could also just say: you have three years to split distribution into, idk, 4 subsidaries which are then “released” as own companies.

You could split geographically, and down the line those companies might compete with each other.

That’s what I mean with creativity. A lot of shit could be possible. But here we are and are told “it makes no sense”, “there is no alternative”, just crippling our own imagination before even using it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • JFK is shit, yeah. But LAX is worse. They don’t have any designated area for overlay. You have to go through immigration, only to go through security again to get your connecting flight. And immigration is rude, like, I don’t want to enter your shitty country, you make me do it, because you apparently don’t know how to build airports.

And security takes ages, so you wait in line, while you’re called out already to board the flight. Like I DON’T WANT TO BE IN THAT LINE! I did not want to go through immigration or security or anything. I just wanted to get my connecting flight.

  • It’s how we end up with curl https://some.rando.url/install.sh | sudo bash -c as an acceptable way of installing software. Don’t understand it, don’t question it, don’t look at what that shell script you’re running as root does, just copy / paste / and go! I don’t want to care about the details!

How do you know that people do not read the scripts first and come to the conclusion “that is safe, nice that somebody build a convenience script I just need to read”?

there are dozens of replies like “just use yunohost” or “just rebuild your entire server with unraid”

Same as above. I read those comments as helpful “hey, that worked for me, maybe it does for you, YMMV” instead of “everybody should do it”.
