US here. I’ve only ever seen bi-weekly and twice-monthly.

Overtime is a given (legally required) for hourly work; however there are a lot of shenanigans employers do around timecards that does not get nearly as much enforcement as it should.

It also typically takes about a month from when you start working to when you get your first paycheck. Paychecks normally come between 1 and 2 weeks after the pay period ends; and your first pay check tends to be extra delayed. Having said that, the one time this was a problem for me, I was able to walk into the HR office and get a hand written check on the spot (no clue how common that is).

Personally, I’d like to think that is one of them written rules.

I don’t see Iran taking that deal. The US unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA, and all the other signatories went along with that decision. The US started a war with them twice in the past year during active negotiations. The regional hegemon that has been calling for the regime’s destruction for decades has been bombing whoever they feel like with impunity.

At this point, Iran would need to either feel completely cornered; or receive sufficient concessions that cannot be easily walked back.

General purpose computers have always had major problems with students getting distracted and going off topic, and are a never ending source of tech issues; particular when locked down in a way that still fails to address the previous issues, but makes them fail more often.

Admin is concerned about paper costs? Get every student an Eink reader. Schools are a big enough market to justify specoalized Eink readers that support classroom management style features (e.g. pushing a reading to student in the room).

Don’t want to deal with hand written essays. I was using a digital typewriter as a middle school student 20 years ago.

It’s like requing laptops for every math class because we don’t want to force students to do all their calculations by hand. But that’s not the choice: we have calculators! Even when we let them use calculators, we have a choice of what calculator to give them. We have 4 function calculators, scientific calculators, graphing calculators, symbolic calculators. And we can pick what tool we give students based on the needs of the particular lesson.

I’m not sure how common it is, but my employer (in the US) runs on a twice monthly payroll system.

It’s nice that heating milk kills bacteria and viruses; but doing it too much can damage taste and nutrition. That’s why I’ve been experimenting with ways to minimize the temperature and time needed to sanitize milk without otherwise damaging it. The deep state will never get me to drink pasturized milk!

There’s been experiments around changing speed limits. What they found is that people consistently speed by about a constant amount over the posted limit, so they keep the posted limit lower, and have all enforcement be at around 10mph over it.

As someone who actually does read the rules for a bunch of places; they often have no relationship to what actually gets enforced.

This isn’t just a problem for social media communities. A bunch of business use boilerplate contracts and terms-of-service that again have no relation to how they actually operate.
