Kbin was once more promising than Lemmy, we didn’t know how hard it was to keep a Kbin instance running, and the mighty PieFed wasn’t here yet. We couldn’t imagine that kbin.social, lemm.ee, and lemmy.fmhy.ml all wouldn’t last. Instances also defederated each other far more commonly back then. Art communities were just getting started here, experimenting with what types of posts work best across platforms. Our disdain for corporate social media united us here, and that disdain has only grown stronger. Yet, !columbus@lemmy.world was once more active than it is now

My hometown is named after Christopher Columbus, and even we got rid of most of our statues of him years ago.

I already assume everything I wrote on the Internet is eternal. Of course, data is free and people will use it for stupid stuff like this. This doesn’t surprise me.

Yeah, I just checked, and it’s still the 5th largest stadium. In the Americas, it’s only surpassed by Michigan’s and Penn State’s stadiums. I knew about the exercise field in North Korea, but it looks like a cricket stadium in India recently took the #1 spot in the world.

Columbus, Ohio resident here. We’ve known Wexner likes little boys for several years now. When Epstein’s black book came out, and behind the page with Trump and others was a full page of Wexners, Lex being the single most mentioned person in the entire black book. He’s the reason Epstein got rich.

For the past few years, we watched the Ohio State University build a 26-story expansion to their hospital that dwarfs everything around for miles. See that stadium in the background? That’s Ohio Stadium, the 4th (edit: 5th) largest sports stadium in the world. And of course, last year, they put Wexner’s name right on top of the new tower in big white letters. What a slap in the face.

I’ve been using a Fairphone 4 for a couple weeks, and I like it so far. This is the way phones should be made. I eventually found replacements for most of my Google stuff. It’s just sad that my government burned our bridges with trade, so any replacement parts I import will be expensive.

My subreddit voted to participate in the Reddit API blackouts in June 2023. My thought was to make a plumbing system that pipes water up and down, and someone’s superpower removes the effect of gravity on the upward flowing section only. Gravity accelerates water going down, but doesn’t decelerate it coming back up. But, I don’t know anyone who actually has control over gravity in a defined area other than myself in my dreams.
