Technology@lemmy.world•Here's the severance package Oracle offered laid-off US employeesEnglish
521·10 days agoImagine pouring your years and efforts into making this company the giant it became, and this is how they repay you. I have to imagine it’s gonna be hard to find a new job at the same pay level etc, considering everyone is currently making big cuts to their workforce 🫠
“After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change,” copies of layoff notification email viewed by Business Insider stated. “As a result, today is your last working day.”
Oh, and one last thing:
Oracle declined to comment.

Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Dan Caine also celebrated the use of the PrSM in a press conference on March 13, reported the BBC, saying the US military had “made history” and carried out attacks with “precision and determination that comes from relentless training and trust in each other and in their weapon systems.”
I love the community kitchen idea 🥂

I hadn’t considered that disabled people have a penchant for over-priced fast food delivery apps, but i see your point.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who have been on Lemmy since the very initial reddit API debacle, or before even that, how much do you think it has changed?
10·13 days agoSounds like you got banned from places that wouldn’t be worth hanging out at in the first place. Fuck em ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if someone is that quick to get triggered by a gesture of disagreement, they couldn’t possibly have a worthwhile community under their watchful gaze.
I really despise these food delivery apps . To me, it’s already expensive enough to buy fast food (or fancier food) in the first place. But to nearly double the price you would have paid, all to avoid walking or driving down the street to get it? I mistakenly assumed that it was doomed to fail when i found out how ridiculously overpriced it is (not to mention, you have to tip them on top of all that?!?)… I mean, good for the people who need to make the $ at least (while they still can, it seems inevitable that robots/autonomous vehicles will eventually capture this money-making avenue as well)

News@lemmy.world•Americans are pulling money out of their 401(k) funds at record rates
161·14 days agoThis is exactly my mindset these days. I never managed to get ahead, hell i barely ever managed to catch up. I’ve been paranoid in the past about my inability to put aside any savings, but now i don’t even think it matters. In the end, the healthcare industry will ultimately take all of my money–there’s no way i can afford treatment for even minor problems, much less the big stuff that lies in wait for us when we get older. So why bother trying to create a savings–just to have them take it all away? So i can squeak a couple more years of life, penniless after having battled cancer? Fuck that.
This is probably not far off from what it’s like to be at that airport right now.

45·18 days agoTerrorism? Poor maintenance? You never know when you’re pumping oil! 🤠
Nothing weird about it. End of the world seems within our sights. Perfect time to pick up a self-destructive habit, imo 😅
For real though, i quit a few years back and it’s been such a game-changer. I also chalk the fact that i did something positive and healthy as the reason why we seem to be nearing a potential ‘end-of-world’ scenario. If i just would have continued suckin down those cancer sticks we would likely be in a much better position, globally. Sorry guys 😬

I find it interesting that everyone expects an artist–someone who makes far less–to continually come up with good ideas or become irrelevant… but fuck-faces like this have one success and never have to come up with anything even remotely good ever again
