LoGH is a masterpiece, completely uncontested in this space.
I see people mentioning Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga. Those are good shows. 86, Chi (Orb), and various Gundams are worth considering too, but none of these can compete with the sheer scale of Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Can’t decide between Banana Fish, The Summer Hikaru Died, and Cherry Magic

Cherry Magic also had a very good JDrama adaption. I saw that first and honestly prefer it to the anime.

Lain be like: where powerlines?
EDIT: video was on mute by default for me. didn’t realize this was duvetposting.

A More Straightforward Experience
Standard Viewing Experience Is Always Safer
These are an affront to Hououin Kyouma’s very identity. Mad science is not supposed to be EASY or SAFE.

Medicine Man/Woman anime. Shows like Mushishi, Mononoke, Natsume Yuujinchou…
They’re typically episodic stories about a traveler who can see supernatural forces that no one else can (typically Yokai, but the Mushi in Mushishi are basically alien lifeforms) and uses their powers to help ordinary people in their struggles to live alongside or communicate with them.
I love these shows because they shine purely on their ability to create compelling drama without relying on ongoing plot lines or recurring characters. They’re just microcosms of humanity in its purest form. Mushishi is particularly impressive. Every episode feels like a short film, not a tv show.

This list could use some work. Bokurano is basically “what if NGE was even more depressing”?

Yeah its hard to compete with Takopi
Second favorite for me would be Hell Girl or Boogiepop Phantom

Nyanpasu~

Yeah you can always sail the seas. I was just reminiscing about a time where CR let you watch it however you want, before it got enshittificated to its current state.

There was a time when Crunchyroll worked with yt-dlp. I miss those days.
Somehow their RSS feeds are still up, but you have to watch the shows using their shitty site. They’ve become just as bad as their competitors.

Can’t speak for the game, but if you’re looking for an anime about track & field, Umamusume and Run With The Wind are the best you can find IMO
It’s good
Because its run by binge watchers who seem hard-pressed on enforcing their binge rule on all their viewers? Even if they hate it?
This goes beyond anime. I’d personally watch more stuff on Netflix if it was in a more accessible format.
