I don’t think introducing someone to anime with a time genocide is a great start.

the random traumatizing episode is an important anime trope to introduce early

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I think if someone wants an easy introduction to a large chunk of what anime is like, FMA:B delivers while standing alone as a very solid piece of media regardless of medium.
Wish JJBA could be on there. wtf was Netflix thinking?!

The future is coming whether we fight it or not. High schoolers fuckin love AI slop. Eventually, all of us who remembered the old days of human created media will die, and the people who grew up with slop being the only thing they know will take our place, and our societal standards will lower more and more.

actually, from a historical perspective, it’s been the Dems who have accelerated ICE. Biden and especially Obama were much more instrumental in the agency coming into more and more power. Trump’s getting to play with the toy now, but it was bought by Dems.
finally, all of that training with my crackhead cat will pay off!
the civil rights movement has been incredibly whitewashed in US education. Americans were overwhelmingly against de-segregation, there was tons of violence against black Americans, and that violence was not solely committed by police officers.
The Klan might seem like a relic of the past now, but the KKK was incredibly powerful during the 50s and 60s, to the point where in my home state, 1/3 of men were Klansmen and were a significant political bloc. They weren’t just voting in politicians that supported their vile views though, they were lynching people and burning crosses on lawns and shit.

I mean, people look back fondly on the Nazis. It just makes them shitty people.

Correct.
The new Crunchyroll subs are not good. I think my favorite example of terrible translations so far was the latest season of Dr. Stone changing the main character’s catchphrase “this is exhilarating” to “this is tempting.”
The multi-million dollar corporation just doesn’t care.
that’s the fun part, it’s been snuck into all of our foods that oftentimes we have little choice.
You can either cook all of your meals from scratch, or deal with high fructose corn syrup. That’s livin in America.
perspective is hard
I mean, I think it’s fine as a gimmick for wealthy gamers, and it’s been at that level for awhile.
As the future of gaming though? yeah, never gonna happen. M+KB is the best controlling scheme for tons of the genres I play, and controllers are great for a bunch of others. There’s actually not that many genres that are improved by full body motion tracking, they’re pretty much all first-person games, and they often turn a relaxing gaming session into a workout. It’s not that the technology isn’t there, it’s that the concept it’s fundamentally flawed.

Y’know, when I first watched episode 1, I really didn’t expect this show to be about puberty.

Really fucking stressed and hoping I can escape the country before I get killed.
See, I’m easy. As long as it’s purely in a sexual context, I won’t be mad. I might say “No” or “Not right now,” but as long as my partner is saying it from a place of genuine horniness, they can go nuts.
Is this so much to ask for? Someone who will treat me with respect while also sexual degrading me when I want it?
I would make the argument that our species resorting to violent conflict over shareable resources is a pretty damning indictment of human nature.
Tribalism exists, it’s a scientific fact. You can overcome the biases it imposes through cognitive effort, but at a baseline we are predisposed to hate anyone who we believe “doesn’t belong.” That’s not inherently evil, but it is asshole behavior.
