What about the girl she calls when she’s horny? I mean there’s always room for a sapphic booty call right?

21·3 days agoIn all seriousness using AI for codegen is at best shortsighted negligence. You know that problem huge long running software projects have where it becomes a nightmare to change anything? That’s some proportion of poor architectural design, lack of cleanup or refactor time, and poor understanding of the code by developers. Poor architectutal design can be repaired by cleanup and refactoring, so both of those issues end up being management/planning failures more than anything. Not understanding the codebase is much more complex. It can be caused by attrition causing loss of institutional knowledge, the code base growing faster than anyone can keep track of, the team being so large no one can stay on top of things, too much time passing since anyone has looked at or changed parts, lots of reasons. The only solution is doing a long audit and associated cleanup and refactoring. If you don’t it just takes forever to change anything because of all the knock on effects that no one can predict, meaning delays and bugs. When you use AI tools the code base grows very quickly, too quick to really comprehend, and you get shitty architecture to go along with it. You’re just speedrunning enterprise software or spending all your time reviewing slop code. It’s like a drug, the first time it does something fast and well you feel it’s so great, but it will never live up to that because it secretly sucks and can only ever suck. Best case it slows you down and you get good software at the end. Worst case you spend all your time wrestling with it and never get a finished product.
is this the illicit internet version of google is your friend? you can just say you don’t know either.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you could become a character and enter any universe and that becomes your permanent life what universe would you pick?English
1·3 days agoIts not really about external acceptance. Being trans is partly about being accepted for who I am, but a large part is also wanting to see the real me in the mirror. If everyone just magically accepted me as a woman I would still transition because I want to actually be feminine. I would still transition if I was the last person on earth. Likewise with body mods. I want to be accepted for who I really am, but people can’t really do that if they aren’t seeing the real me, the me with extra jewelry holes and (eventual) ink. It would be a slap in the face and an invalidation of my feelings if people told me they accept me as I am so there’s no need to change the things I want to change about myself.

8·5 days agoOne thing they never really get into in Star Trek is how the body modification scene evolved in a future with medical replicators and “Doc will shine a light on it” levels of medical technology. I’m sure they could easily perform a gender transition, including changing reproductive organs to whatever combo a person wanted, in an afternoon, to say nothing of the possibility of cosmetic and functional structural changes. We see them perform highly complex and detailed biological modifications so crew members can pass as aliens like it’s nothing, so why not make people taller/shorter, wider/narrower hips, bigger/smaller boobs, more feminine/masculine face, horns, pointed or alien ears, new sense organs, extra arms, etc. What kind of wild piercings are people getting? What new methods and styles of tattoos have they come up with? The possibilities are incredible. That would be a fun world to explore, even within the Federation’s taboo against genetic alteration.
Oh bummer their heads were so cute. Just another excessively curvy hentai artist.

2·9 days agoI like it so far. In the words of Worf, it serves me. I definitely miss some of the settings I had available on my old phone, but this one is much snappier. The os is basically the same as normal android but without the builtin google garbage. I still have the android app store. I guess the main thing is since its a fairphone repair and battery replacement will be much easier so hopefully I can just keep it for a long long time.

3·11 days agoI just upgraded to a fairphone 6 with e/os preinstalled after holding on to my LG G6 for at least 7 years. The thing that finally pushed me to upgrade was the camera, which was fine in 2019 but now is such a potato. Also the battery life was ass, the usbc port was super loose, and the micro sd card slot was broken so I was perpetually almost out of storage.

Won’t anyone think of the poor poor capitalists? What would they do if we didn’t give them a decade to lobby for the law to be castrated or repealed while they develop a new worse chemical that falls outside the law they can switch to in case they fail? If we made them change something now it might reduce quarterly growth. It may even benefit the public!
