  • This is just setting up for Israel’s expansion plans, they’re very open about what they want to do and what land they want to claim. Iran is powerful but doesn’t stand a chance against US and Israel combined, even if the US only commits air power.

US gets to spend trillions on a no-boots* war to enrich investors and donors and distract from Epstein, Israel gets to send its army in for more protracted, house-to-house murder sessions now that it’s nearly done with wiping Gaza off the map. That’s all they want, huge, hateful, Crusades 2.0 and US evangelicals want Israel to start World War 3 so Jeeeesus comes back, and that’s not even a joke or exageration for the most part.

Israel will probably feel emboldened by their success in manipulating America and decide they can control Iran’s dissidents and set up their own puppet ruler after they carpet bomb the cities to dust.

    * just a few boots bro, I promise bro, we’ll get in and out real fast, just a few months tops, come on bro, just a couple boots. Limited operation, just support, I promise bro. Do it for a college tuition?

  • Some of their major exports are coffee, cocoa, gold, oil, sugar, beans, vanilla, tea and fish products.

Other than maybe some brands of coffee, you won’t be able to source any of this stuff, when talking international exports like this, these are goods going directly to manufactures all over the world for packaging and processing and reselling. It’s just something that sounds good on paper, but in reality I doubt there are any vanilla extract factory CEO’s in China reading Lemmy right now and suddenly standing up in their chair in shock and calling their purchasing managers.

  • Its got to be deliberate.

It is, they want to do what every gaming company wants to do, have a huge and popular streaming platform with games hosted on their servers so that people don’t own games or hardware, they just pay an ever-increasing monthly subscription fee. (plus many, many extra surcharges, in-game upgrades and cosmetics and virtual collectables, etc.)

“You will own nothing and be happy” is going to be the motto of every electronic media company for the next several decades. Hope you didn’t like peer-to-peer gaming and having good ping in competitive gaming.

I mean, the meme here is satire, no idea what it originally was supposed to be, someone slapped on the message about atheists for a joke.

But yeah, broadly it IS accurate to how conservatives feel about the kinds of families we want, the kinds of pets we want, the kinds of food we eat, the clothes we wear, etc. Every change to that normalized order terrifies them, it’s in the name.

Feeling afraid of change is fine. Most of us have those kinds of feelings, most of us are going to have wary responses to the unfamiliar. But the conservative base in the US in particular have the worst combination in the world, which is fear of change plus stupidity, so they fall prey to any story supplied to them about what exactly they’re scared of and give it no actual thought. All feelings, no thinking.

There were so many dinosaurs across so much of the globe for so many millions of years, that there was undoubtedly some species of raptors and related dinosaurs who were absolutely fluffy and chubby and look nothing like we imagine them to look from their bones.

Look at one of those speciality breed chickens that look like floofy mops, compared with an average chicken skeleton and you get an idea just how little we actually know and how wrong we might be about the distant past.

We absolutely could have domesticated raptors. Dogs are more than capable of eating us, and once in a while actually do just that, but that doesn’t stop us from spending more on their special diets and cute sweaters than we do on our human children.

A wild raptor? Probably not, if you’ve ever had chickens you know how vicious they can turn suddenly. But you also know how affectionate and loyal they can be. A few generations of selective breeding and you will have the ultimate protection animal. Jurassic Park’s representation of them being like fucking Alien and being horrific killing machines with brains designed for unlocking cages is likely a huge exaggeration of what kind of nuanced and intelligent and complicated creatures they were.

I’ve had wolves, they make terrible pets, but even dedicated predators have a measure of deep loyalty and love for their family unit.

  • They do not care, none of this is about “fairness” nor will lead to any embarrassment on their part, they WANT to shame cis women who aren’t “pretty enough” by their cartoonish mara-lago standards, they WANT to investigate women’s genitals and make women feel violated. If they could, they would have groups of men molesting girls and women outside every bathroom in the USA. This was never about actual safety of anyone, it’s always been about reinforcing control and power.

For proof, they sure don’t seem to care about investigating trans men using the men’s restroom. They have a perception of power and where it belongs and are doing everything to clutch onto that power and hold onto it as our world changes.
