I’m still checking on videos on youtube where people use currently available boards/laptops and test and compare them to ARMs. In my opinion planning 2027-2030 hardware purchases and a full commitment is still too early.

There will most- ikely be a lot of movement be it chip-wise and with linux support.

My setup is searchable ZIM files on a pen drive. I open the file with a viewer on any PC or f-droid capable android. No servers involved, no handoff of data involved. More like a book as last resort.

Maps are openstreet maps downloads in osmand.

From my perspective there is no need to over engineer a basic tool.

For example, take a look at those TEOTWAWKI preppers. They’re hoarding books, ebooks, literature and knowledge in the most robust and reliable way. No need to add a tech stack that might or might not yield the proper answer and might or might not hide important facts in the summary.

People putting me in drawers is also getting tiresome.

I’m using coding agents as a tool for software development and like to summarize complex matters. That doesn’t mean, that I like having AI “features” cramped into everything.

And also there are the valid ethical questions AI-apologists and enthusiasts tend to dream away.

Edit: especially if the stack is advertised for survival, mind this. The more moving parts, the higher the chances for a critical failure.

But yea, having the Wikipedia and offline maps stored away (e.g. for offline use on an android phone) is a great thing. I use a thumb drive instead of a interconnected thingy with “command centre”. Feeling old now.

For gaming, it is said to be slower in comparison to ext4. I’m personally not chasing FPS, but I know a lot of people doing so.

My gut feeling tells me, that all the data integrity checks are better used for real important data, and not for some media streaming (I’m using ZFS in corporate context).

Maybe, except for your gaming partition (ext4).

Then recommend Kubuntu. It is not like this is a competition or I need to he convinced ☺️

There are enough distributions for everyone and every need.

I recommend it for gamers. It has many convenient features for them.

Otherwise I prefer Debian/Ubuntu-based distros that are - in my perception- much more user friendly. LinuxMint is my goto recommendation.

Having used and administered both, I would put it on the same level with mattermost

Unless of course your content is original and you want to foster the alternatives instead of further cementing the problematic platforms.

Sure, the choice is rather ideological than economical, but not working on the transition (like using all platforms in parallel in order to someday fade away from the problematic ones) is just lazy and half arsed.

Mmm… I added several IT news, and regular news sites. National and international.

Sometimes feed offenders like reuters don’t work (without workarounds) but the majority offers their all or topic centric feeds just like that.

Just add sites (by top level domain) that you use to read. You would be surprised how many provide feeds and even more surprised how fast your feed reader gets overwhelmingly filled 😅

The project looks nice and RSS Aggregators are the way to go.

I switched to a file based (cloud storage) syncing app like News Explorer a while ago. Sometimes less infrastructure involved is a blessing.
