Because of the current cultural context, yes. Even when you add “overall.” But I’d be completely open to you elucidating that you are referring to some non-racist point.
If there’s been a history of people stating this about a group meaning every single member, then you need to assume that’s what they mean. I don’t think that’s the case with men.
Not saying one meaning must be assumed over the other, you’ll have to depend on cultural context to understand the deeper meaning.
Compare for example “men can’t give birth” vs. “men love sports”. The former clearly intends to say “all men”, the latter intends “the group overall”.
One could understand “men are trash” as having the meaning “every single man is trash”, which would be in line with racism as you say. Or one could understand it as “the group overall is trash”, meaning any individual member isn’t necessarily trash.
The latter meaning is in some senses a matter of data - men are extremely overrepresented in e.g. violent crimes.
Which, again, doesn’t much about the individual man.

2·13 days agoYou need 90 seats for a majority, the left wing bloc failed to get that. But they got closer to it than the right wing bloc.
Now the question is who the centrists will deal with, and who will deal with them.
Denmark is amazing. Especially in spring, when the beech trees sprout leaves in the most delicate green color.
Things just work here, food is good, the music scene is great, government is highly trustworthy, lots of jobs, lots of welfare. Yes, it could be better still, but I don’t know many places where it works nearly as well as here.

Anything else you hear is propaganda.
This may counter propaganda, but is also clearly propaganda itself.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•For those who tried to enter the dating pool, how did it go?
2·2 months agoBeen moving country/city a few times. Tried to make sure to always do stuff in my free time where there would be girls around. Ended up on quite a few dates!
Dating is so much fun. I love meeting strangers in this weird pseudosexual tension when you don’t know eachother and you don’t know what’s gonna happen.
Even bad dates were fun experiences in terms of meeting interesting people. And if you realize that being happy alone is better than being in a bad relationship, a failed date is no problem.

2·5 months agoTo me it feels more about consistency. The world aligns with your expressed ideology.
If you’re using the sneaking and non-lethal tools the world becomes a place that believes in the value of life, if you murder indiscriminately the world becomes a place of punishment, where nobody is innocent and the only way forward is to let a plague descend on the land.
Plus, arguably, the parts that get harder when you go lethal are balanced by the inherently more difficult nature of the non-lethal approach.

9·5 months agoNon-lethal also means avoidance rather than conflict. But ultimately, “bad ending” is subjective. You still save the princess, it’s just a more murdery vibe.
Also you get to kill the baddies yourself, it’s the good ending where most are killed for you right?

As I’m clearly in the wrong according to downvotes, could you elaborate on what I’m missing?
