Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What piece of software is all that you'll need to use?English
31·2 months agoI’m kinda wondering myself why I’m reading so many recommendations for text-editors. But, I’m not gonna care because, there could be coders lurking and might want to grab some of those recommendations.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do people get out of being hateful online?English
2·2 months agoIt’s all egotistical and to appease what social insecurity that they have against anyone. Some entitled users, think they’re disrupting some status quo they believe that they see, so they think that being an asshole, they’re disrupting it and ‘making it better’. It’s all arbitrary bullshit.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some things about the past people get wrong today?English
1·2 months agoPeople don’t realize that it took a little bit of more time for certain decades to truly start before we knew them as they were. They all didn’t go like “it’s 1980, so lets break out the synths right now!”. But actually, the 80s didn’t seem to really start until something like 1982. Same with the 90s and so on. It takes cultural change some time to get moving.
Already have it on Steam, not interested in getting yet another version of this game from the pile.
You’d have to wait for years for that to happen.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people go out of their way to dodge manhole covers while driving?English
1·2 months agoBecause it’s not a good feeling hitting them and they’ll always make you think whether you’re blowing out your tires or fucking with the suspension.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever solved a Rubik's Cube? And how?English
1·2 months agoYes, I carefully off the stickers and placed them where they should be.
The fuck is going on with his teeth? I had to google search several images of his smile and they have some of that weird uncomfortable pedo smile going. Other images, he’s somewhat smiling normally.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How could we go about making a jurisdiction where advertising is illegal?English
3·2 months agoYou would have to commit political suicide to even get a bill on the docket to limit the amount of commercial pollution. It is just one of those things that’s so knee-deep, it would take tireless efforts to overcome.

Technology@lemmy.world•Is The New York Times a games company? A familiar debate continuesEnglish
115·2 months agoUninformed? The headline was a stupid question and the article is presumable stupid. What valuable information would I gain by reading such a trivial thing? None. So, yes, I’m blessed to not be informed about something that ultimately doesn’t matter to me. Get bent. Or cry through downvotes, whatever floats your boat. :)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s your golden rule for the internet?English
31·2 months agoSimilar to treat others as they treat you. I can’t count how many times, people have decidedly confronted me to be a asshole of a bastard, then are quick to play the victim fiddle soon as it is handed right back at them. Don’t be a prick or you’ll get the treatment right back. I don’t care what you’re going through or anything, I’ll automatically assume you’ve got no life going for you to be acting like a bitch to people online.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you know youre getting burnt out at work?English
3·2 months agoYou take more time off than you want to. When I began my current job, I was on for 5 days a week. And I ran with that ball for a good year and a half. But, I started to use PTO/PPTO like nobody’s business and I even took hits on my points. I keep skirting at 4.5 points because it’s just not fun and rewarding to do what I do anymore.
When I keep coming in and having to correct people’s mistakes, on top of what I’m assigned to do and how I’m to be someone’s crutch when they aren’t pushing themselves. It’s demoralizing. I haven’t even begun to talk about how many times I’d be complimented for what I do, only for management to turn around and backhand me the moment we have 1 on 1 conversations over concerns about performance. Quick to praise, but quicker to break you down.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you know youre getting burnt out at work?English
2·2 months agoOh yeah, I’m up there now. If my manager disagrees with my performance and thinks I’m not doing enough for the store despite me breaking my ass for them for years. I’d consider that sweet release. I wouldn’t even care how behind on bills I’d get or anything. Long as I’m out of that damn environment.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some hobbies that are generally looked down on but are not really problematic?English
43·2 months agoCollecting funko pops or figures in general. It’s kind of like watching cartoons as an adult, where people buy figures of their interests for display. There’s some art there to the figures themselves and even the funko pops. Why do you have to immediately make it your business to shame others for collecting them? They say it’s contributing to the landfill and all that shit. Well, that is if they’re buying the figures to destroy them or burning the vinyl plastic itself for no reason.
But that’s not what they’re doing, so get over it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some hobbies that are generally looked down on but are not really problematic?English
111·2 months agoBecause it is weird, to be honest. There’s no shame in watching children’s cartoons in general, but the problem is when people go out of their way to promote it. A lot of us don’t really need to know, especially those that go the extra mile to re-create their saturday morning routines down to wearing PJs and eating cereal to watch cartoons. If you’re going to put that out there, then you can’t expect people to not judge you a little over it or get a head tilt.
There are just somethings that should be reserved and enjoyed in private.

32·2 months agoThat’s not a hobby. That’s degeneracy.

Kinda lazy for New York to do this.
When there are countless gaming companies that are more cutthroat about it.
