When i was around 14 or 15, I helped do the web dev stuff for an online friend of mine who started a Minecraft server hosting company (he was a few years older than me)

It actually got pretty popular and while I just got paid in free server hosting, I was having a great time.

He just disappeared one night though which we noticed when the card he used for the bulk server reseller host failed. All the servers we were hosting for people along with the website got shut down and he was nowhere to be found online. I was talking to him pretty much all day every day so it was really weird

AI has been better than this for quite some time now. I honestly miss this era of AI-generated images though. It was always immediately noticeably AI but created some absolutely vile Cronenberg-esque abominations that I’d consider a genuine art genre on its own. Regarding Jellyfin, if the PC you got has an Intel CPU then using Intel QuickSync would actually easily outperform the NVIDIA card for transcoding.

Up until very recently I was using a cheap i3 to power my Jellyfin instance that often has 5+ streams going at a time. (The only reason I upgraded was that I had a friend getting rid of an i7 from the same gen lol)

In terms of tech, it’s because what data you think they have on you is only a tiny fraction of what they actually have. I’m a backend developer who’s worked on numerous web services and you’d be blown away by the amount of data companies collect. Think: full scanable replays of your browser session when visiting websites. At my previous job I could see literally every bit of identifiable data available for each user and could replay their browsing as an interactive video.

It’s a massive invasion of privacy

It might just be Politico being the polling source since it’s right-wing media company. In my anecdotal experience as a Canadian, not a single person I know across the political spectrum likes the US or Americans right now. It was a very strained relationship before 2016 but any resemblance of respect we had for the US is long gone at this point
