You are correct. It’s been so long since I bought my license it feels like a lifetime. I checked the website and if you buy now it’s valid up to v8.99. That could be years from now. I bought my license in 2020 at v6.05. 6 years is extremely generous considering the software subscription environment we live in today.

Have you tried Reaper daw? I’ve been using it for years at this point. It has a free unlimited lifetime demo, or you can pay them $60 for a lifetime license.

I disagree with that Rock assessment. Is he well curated. Absolutely. The only thing mainstream about him is the genre he’s working in. Psyop strength? You gotta pay too much attention to everything he does in this attention economy for him to be a Psyop. Ain’t no letting the job do it’s work with Rock. You gotta give him your full attention. There’s a level of disconnect that a Psyop needs to work and Rock isn’t allowing that. Could you skim the dictionary and learn every word your eyes touched? I don’t think so.

You know how dog people say there’s no bad dogs, only bad owners? Same thing with kids. It’s way more nuanced than that. It’s true up to a certain point. After having a giant boom of babies in my life recently, nothing has changed my thinking more than watching a blank slate of a human being be morphed into whatever the parents molded that child into. Sometimes it’s rough.

More coding itself. I like figuring out the minutia of it. I settled on C for now. Maybe a switch to Zig once that settles down it’s development. I grabbed a few textbooks and read through them. I picked up linked lists and trees and the neat stuff you can to with that. The game is an end goal but building up the tool box is more of a skill I want to nourish now. The idea of writing my own engine is very intriguing too.

Coding. Why did it have to be coding? I’m not good at it. Everything I’ve read about it makes little sense. The tiny bit of coding I do get needs to be reinforced 1000 times over. So far I’ve made some triangles and my terminal spout some shit out. Nothing fancy. Yet in the back of my mind I’m gonna make a fucking video game one day and all this confusion and struggling will pay off.

Looks like I had a good time no matter what happened.

I’ve heard a song here and there but I haven’t given them a serious listen. I know it’s the same singer and guitarist.

At the Drive-In - Literally the hot shit of late 00s and early 10s done in the mid 90s. They were so ahead of their time it’s a shame they kinda get lost being inspiration for what came later. They totally deserved to be the focal point.

Converge - I was always aware of them. They were kind of just another band at the time they were at their best. Then I really got into them this past year. I totally wish I could have fully appreciated them when we were younger. Going to one of their early shows would have been a highlight of my life.

Nine Inch Nails - I just never gave them a proper chance until the past few years. They totally deserve their reputation. Their stuff is awesome.

That’s the trick though. You will listen to all of Gizzard’s albums. Their highs are so high they get the benefit of the doubt for everything else.

To be fair, late for KGLW can be 12 albums in or 20 albums in. The scale for them is way different. Like they formed after I left highschool and none of them have died. Eric left. Yet their discography is big enough for 5 bands combined.

I went up to the darkest part of my state to do some stargazing. Stayed until roughly 300ish in the morning. My dumb ass decided to drive down the mountain to the nearest town in the darkest fucking pitch black night I ever lived through. I legit could not see more than 2 feet in front of my car. Every little twinkle of light that wasn’t my car’s high beams was a deer or a bear. I thought every dip in the road was a void to hell considering how dark it was. I spent the whole ride hunched up to the steering wheel with eyes wide open looking at nothingness in front of me. Took me two hours to go 50 miles to get off this mountain to the nearest city. By the time I got there the sun was coming up and I had no clue until the mountains actually broke into the valley. I checked into a hotel and had the best 5 hours of sleep ever. I’ve been back there a couple times and I stay the whole night now.

Not getting along kinda helps but for the most part yeah.
