Well I also seriously doubt they would nationalize anything.

Nationalize it. The public now owns it and it pays for utilities for the public.

Technology@lemmy.world•Scientists uncovered the nutrients bees were missing — Colonies surged 15-foldEnglish
3·8 days agoForgive me, it’s not good news that a company has it. That’s evil and they will destroy people lives. BUT the yeast exists now. When we die out because we are unimaginably stupid, that yeast is likely to live on and help the bees to do so as well. The bees i more worried about because they don’t love heat

22·8 days agoThe GOOD news is that yeast doesn’t really respect property lines. Or quarantines. Or much of anything. That shit will spread organically easily enough. It will be a while, but now that the strain exists (and is being constantly refreshed with the corpro product) it should help all bees everywhere. Maybe bees will start farming it like ants do. Would be fun

5·9 days agoOops I mined the runway. Oops a drone hit the runway. Oops the air defense isn’t actually all out and now 300 American paratroopers are dead.
If we bent our entire economy around it, yeah maybe. We’re not doing that and that wouldn’t be a “success.” It would be a phyrric victory AT BEST.

13·10 days agoHow do think a ground invasion of Iran, the famously impossible to invade area for literally thousands of years, would go? Do you think that it would be like Iraq where the USA blitzkrieged with tanks through to the capital? Not likely. The entire region is mountains. Rock slides would be a disaster in waiting (and able to be triggered via artillery or drones) at every turn.

No more dollar as the world reserve currency. Death of the petrodollar.

9·12 days agoTo be perfectly frank, with the system we had set up, that was inevitable. It would have been better if it happened 40 years ago, better to happen now than in another 40 years.
Clearly, if one point of failure causes it to collapse within a month, the system was not stable. There was no other path but collapse of the global economy.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do we do now that we found out the world is run by a billionaire parasitic class??
92·2 months agoCounterpoint: we throw them in wood chippers and confiscate all the factories and such.
To be clear, I don’t give a fuck that they started killing white people as opposed to brown people. I have been beyond angry my entire life about the entire system. But fascism is a specific governmental type. Capitalism is very closely linked but you’re making some while assumptions about why I am saying imperialism is different from attacking the homeland. Like there is just a different mindset for why the people in power do those two things. Both are evil. I have been angry about both.
Look, there is plenty of hate in imperialism. I’m not claiming there is more hate now. Im saying its the main drive. They didn’t go to Africa because they just hated them. They went for money and because they hated them, they didn’t mind exterminating them. They are going after the people here, not to benefit anyone, (clearly it isn’t, it harming the economy pretty substantially) it is because they feel attacked and scared like little baby bitches and they still hate minorities.
That’s just not true. The imperialism was evil on behalf of capital, but this is more evil on behalf of hate (and capital).
Semantic difference but there is a difference between fascism and imperialism.
The only thing that I feel is necessary to a society is voluntary participation. I just want to be able to leave freely and join something else. If there’s a dictatorship of the proletariat, and I happen to disagree with them, I want to be able to leave freely. That’s why small communities would be best for that sort of thing.

Nah man. The president in Idiocracy listened to smart people about how to help his citizens. He cared about them and their ability go to the thunder dome for entertainment.
