A cruise ship is just press where the wealthy wring as much money out of people as possible. You’re there to drink and gamble. If you don’t like doing either of those then you can go to any one of the dozens of events where people are, surprise surprise, drinking and/or gambling. I guess there were a few events that were just marketing for scummy tat or services too. There is nothing you can do that doesn’t cost money even with the “free” perks. We had a free drink package but god forbid you forget to tip for every fucking drink including if you just want some fucking water. Oh you one a free massage? Well guess what, it’s not actually free. It’s free after you buy the base package. Plus at the end of the cruise they automatically charge you a $160 “gratuity” just for existing because fuck you. The whole thing was unabashedly scummy; It felt like spending a week trapped in a car dealership.

Our time off the boat was at tourist trap islands which had all been pillaged so thoroughly that tourism is now all they have. Some of those islands still had some natural beauty but looking at it also just pissed me off because there was nowhere you could look and not see what little remained being actively destroyed. The snorkeling trips were even more infuriating, nothing quite makes you hate people like snorkeling in dead garbage filled reefs.

I want to see every cruise company executive sent through a woodchipper feet first. I want every cruise ship turned into an artificial reef.

Not necissarily blue vs white collar. Probably more just customer facing vs not. I’m a service tech so I’m blue collar but I’m also directly interacting with customers so I need to look presentable at least at the start of the day. So I normally do a morning shower so I look presentable to customers but sometimes I wind up crawling around in unspeakable filth or working up a major sweat at work so if that’s the case then I will do an after work shower in addition to the morning shower. But I’m customer facing so the morning shower is a must.

Damn, I’ll have to keep my eyes open for those. Is that in drivable condition or is that the cost if the battery is completely shot? Because I would kill for any functional electric car for that price.

When did I say new? I still have no idea how anyone who isn’t a millionare or more could buy a new car. I’m decently above average income and even the cheapest new cars still cost an impossible amount of money. Yeah loans are a thing but that also confuses me because why would any bank give anyone a +$20,000 loan for a fairly rapidly depreciating asset which could be totaled the next day by a random deer or bad driver. Yeah, insurance is a thing but the cost of insurance on new cars is also inconceivably expensive. Even if you ignore the cost of vehicle itself, how do people even manage to pay the insurance premiums and registration costs? Some people must be buying new cars of course but I genuinely have no idea how or why.

$20k is still more than I can ever imagine spending on a vehicle. The most expensive vehicle I ever bought was $3k and I really had to think on that one. Until there are +20 year old used electric vehicles for sale, they aren’t an option for me. Unfortunately it also looks like they are being built like every other piece of tech and designed to be tossed out every few years so I don’t know that +20 year old electric vehicles will ever really exist. Not that new gas engine cars are any different in that way either of course.

Electric cars aren’t unattractive because they’re electric cars. They’re unattractive because they cost 1/4 the cost of my house and come preenshitified with subscriptions. If I could afford an electric car I would get one. Let me know when you see one selling for under $5k.

I’ll tell yah though. Ever since I got put on adderall, I’ve never been properly congested. Amphetamines do help keep your sinuses clear. So she wasn’t completely wrong.

If you just want to prevent opporitunistic break ins then you just need to make your house a less appealing target than the neighbors. A sturdy door, motion activated lights, and a dog can do that easily enough. If you want to go the extra mile then put up a few cameras. The cameras don’t even need to be real. I used to work for a fortune 500 company that made extensive use of fake cameras on their properties. The trick there was that they also had a few identical looking real cameras as well so unless you had insider knowledge, you would have to consider all of the cameras real.

Now if you want to stop someone who is determined to break into your house specifically then that gets trickier. You will never stop someone determined enough so the goal is to just make the process of breaking in as noisy and difficult as possible. You will want a good and properly mounted deadbolt on all your doors. By properly mounted I mean, throw out those dinky 1" screws that came with the deadbolt plate and mount that plate with some big old 4" long screws. A deadbolt plate just screwed into the doorframe does little good. But if you screw that thing clear through the door frame and into the (preferably doubled up) stud behind it, then bashing in your door goes from requiring a swift kick to requiring a ram or a sledge. Also, if you don’t like the look of bars on your windows, you can just apply huricane laminate to your windows instead. It’s a film that is designed to be applied to windows in huricane prone areas to prevent debris from flying through the windows. It also makes smashing in your windows a tremendous pain in the ass. The glass will still break but it will all be held in place by the film similar to a broken car windshield. It is possible to get through but it is a very time consuming and conspicuous process. Finally, cameras. Now that you’ve made it a pain to get through your doors and windows, you want to be sure that anyone who would still be willing to put in the effort also knows that they’re being watched the entire time they’re breaking in. Yes you can still smash in a door with a proper deadbolt or smash in a laminated window but few people are willing to spend that much time on camera being recorded committing a crime. Beyond those measures your walls become the weak point and there isn’t much you can do about that without rebuilding the house.

Or, it’s time to just stop allowing any shipping traffic to or from St Petersburg. If Russia keeps using civilian vessels from there to perform military acts of sabotage then it seems perfectly reasonable to stop allowing any vessels to travel to or from there. Any ships bound to or from that port need to travel through another countries teritorial waters to access the ocean and at this point they would be well within their rights to stop allowing those ships to travel through their waters. Enough is enough. Russia can either quit their shit or stop having a useful port in St Petersburg.

I don’t want kids and I’m not interested in short term flings so I wouldn’t.

It’s not not wanting to “raise someone elses kid” but rather just not wanting kids period. I didn’t get snipped at 21 just to wind up with a kid anyways.

At the same time I wouldn’t be opossed to a hookup with someone because they are a single parrent if that’s all they were looking for as well. But I’m asexual so hookups just aren’t my thing period.
