  • The combination of shadow banning on Reddit and the Reddit right wing platform wide rule enforcement shift that happened about a year and a bit ago.

They already made a bunch of decisions earlier that I also really disagreed with, but at some point it was just too much. I still miss the super niche crafting communities. There aren’t enough crafters on Lemmy to go full niche like that, even if I made them myself.

  • Yes, but whose definition of antisemitism are they using and who are they polling. Because the Zionist definition of antisemitism would include anyone who is against the current genocide even if they have no particular opinion on Jews in general. An additional problem is that the Zionist lobbies are really strong in many western countries. Just because something originates in the UK doesn’t make it inherently trustworthy or unbiased

  • It’s really difficult to check on this, but it wouldn’t surprise me if antisemitism is actually increasing. The thing is that the zionists are screaming from the rooftops that anything anti-Israeli government is antisemitism. They are watering down the term to the point of being meaningless. I can’t imagine where to even start on finding data on real antisemitism at this point. If anyone is aware of a trustworthy source I’m all ears.

  • I had an Apple laptop at the time, didn’t dual boot but did have to use some workarounds using Wine. I guess that’s kind of acknowledging Windows, but at least you’re not actually running it I guess? Basically it’s close to the way I use my Linux machine nowadays.

Chances are however that things have somewhat changed in the last 12 years and chances are it varies between (sub)degrees and universities. However I can guarantee you: you won’t be alone in not wanting to use windows. Being very OS picky is a tried and true tradition in the field. Find your kind of people and I’m sure you can troubleshoot any issues you encounter together.
