I’m not anti-intellectual, I was a true space kid, watching every mission after 1965. I was a Apollo 11 super fan. I built models of the Apollo 11 and the Lunar Lander. I kept a subscription to national Geographic for decades because they had such great space photos. I should be loving this.
But it’s pretty obvious that all modern space exploration is mostly about giving future trillionaires an option to get off the planet when we inevitably turn on them.
interesting numbers, but consider this: Most countries have existed since before written time, evolving into what they are now. Only a few countries have grown entirely based on immigration, Australia, New Zealand, and America among them.
It makes sense that a country that has a culture going back centuries, or even millennia, would base citizenship on descent. Even America does that, but we also recognized that we needed immigration to grow, and fill, our country, and Birthright Citizenship fills that need.
That’s why there are a lot more descent-based citizenship countries, than Birthright Citizenship countries. It’s not because it’s a better or worse idea, it just depends on what works for the historical culture of the individual countries.
Gorsuch asked if Native Americans would be considered birthright citizens, and the MAGA lawyer said he’d “have to give it some thought.”

I’m having a hard time getting excited about repeating a mission that wasn’t even the best thing we did over 50 years ago, except this time with computers and 1000X the budget.
Years ago, I took a nearly identical package to a lawyer, who asked if they had been a bad employer, anything actionable, but they’d been great, I was going to miss it badly.
He said it was a pretty standard agreement, better than most get, so if there wasn’t a chance that I would want to sue in the future, it was best to just accept it, and move on.
The proper terminology is “crotchal area.”
Our neighborhood had distinctive split rail fences around all the front yards, and one time, after a big snow storm, we wrapped toilet paper back and forth across the street, using the fence uprights as supports. To a driver, it looked like someone had built a wall of snow across the street.
Cars would recognize the barrier too late, hit their brakes and skid right through it. I’m sure they thought they would hit a solid wall, but then it would just silently “explode,” and the presumably shaken driver would travel on, and we’d run out and wrap the toilet paper back and forth for the next victim.
This was back in the 70s, so no method of filming it, but it would have been cool.
It was harmless, but a lot of work setting up again and again, and it would only work on the perfect sunny snow day, so we never got the chance to do it again.
It always was, but now that MAGA owns it, it’s getting really bad. They showed up to a murder scene, and it turns out to be some version of law enforcement, and they had to have a forced scene where they all gathered around the body and got emotional about someone they don’t know, simply because he was some cop adjacent person, then got back to work.
Also, all the bad guys are now Muslims and terrorists and immigrants and such. I was expecting that.
I did notice on NCIS that they are still saying Department of Defense and SecDef. Maybe CBS doesn’t approve of Department of War.
The whole CBS line-up is turning into government copaganda - NCIS, FBI, CIA, Marshals, etc.
I just want to be clear, that’s NOT supposed to happen.

Not just that, but think about how boring life would be if all we had was the white bread world that MAGA imagines. No more interesting food, music, dance, literature, etc., but also science and medicine, and also basic manual labor. And that’s besides the fact that it’s more interesting to share a beer with a neighbor friend who hasn’t had the exact same life experiences as me.
Immigrants add color to our lives, and for some reason that scares the shit out of some people.
Nobody is being “debanked” except Trump, and it’s because his accounts were tied to criminal activity, not politics.
Stop committing crime, and you can put the money in a bank.
Meanwhile, MAGA is talking about making it illegal for undocumented people to have bank accounts. So who is actually denying banking privileges based on politics?

The Sociopathic Oligarchs see the Dow as the leading indicator of the economy, and never notice gas prices.
But to the average American, the price of GAS is the leading economic indicator, and that number psychologically symbolizes the health of the economy in their minds. That number is displayed on every corner in the country, and every American passes it many times a day, driving it into their skulls.
This is NOT good for MAGA, and a reckoning is coming. MAGA is feral, and when they feel cornered, wounded, and scared, they will strike out ferociously. It’s going to get uglier before it gets better.
