You are considering an army designed to attack foreign enemies. What this administration is doing, is preparing an army to fight domestic enemies.
What better way to leave domestic enemies defenseless than to send their most physically fit people overseas? What better way to make sabotaging the military-industrial complex inpalpable even as it crushes you than to make it result in your cousin’s overextended platoon getting overrun and killed?
They have ICE, the regular police, the national guard, assorted brownshirt militias, the air force, space force, and more to fight domestic enemies. They can manage without the army.
In case you didn’t know, “army” refers to a specific branch of the (US) armed forces, the one specializing in large-scale ground operations such as the invasion of Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The US Army lowering enlistment standards or drafting citizens does not (necessarily) affect other military branches. Sometimes “army” is used as short for “armed forces”, and I agree that if all US armed forces were to be non-racist in their recruitment standards then the US government would be in trouble.
But the army is a great place to dump unwanted or dangerous citizens/subjects because there are lots of opportunities for them to get killed through (deliberate) mismanagement by their superiors or by other branches.
