There may be an increase in irregular riders, but the regular ridership is down by a lot. Many people choose to stay home for the holidays or stay in their neighborhoods.

the bus schedules were on holiday service, so it took ages to get home. and it was cold and wet.

No, but like, I didn’t buy the tv I have in the living room. My mom forced it on me. It doesn’t have a cable package and I rarely turn it on. There’s no reason to throw it away, but if it were up to me, I probably would have no tv at all. Kind of a 20th century appliance.

They peg their currency to the USD, because of their economy’s reliance on petrodollar states. They’re a small economy, highly reliant on foreign trade and foreign investment, so setting the rate facilitates stable trade and investor confidence. The IMF sends them a bit of cash to help them balance their books, but mostly it’s just high levels of reserves and policy.

oatly original. it’s my one ride or die grocery item. I can go a week without it during pumpkin spice latte season, but otherwise I am NOT happy with anything else in my coffee.

Someone announced that there was an error with the bar exam, and February testers would have to re-take. I’m not even there yet but the horror I felt.
in general, investing in land is for the rich/gamblers. no reason to do that versus the stock market for the average person.
I would really like to learn to snowboard/ski. I’m learning to drive soon and I’m hoping I’ll be able to take some time to go to the mountains in the winter. That costs money though.

Generally, isolation makes it cost-prohibitive to invest in a place. The extra distance adds cost. The lower population density reduces returns. If you look at Iceland, Northern Russia, Madagascar, island nations, these places tend to get left behind relative to dense population centers. You can mitigate conflict with cooperation and sound policy. You can’t mitigate the basic costs of doing business.

Children are not particularly discriminating consumers. They’ll watch pretty much anything shiny that you put in front of them, because they don’t know any better. A moderately well written film to an adult will literally be “the best thing” a teen has ever seen. When you catch a teen’s interest early, they’ll probably continue be interested in your brand for the next 10-20 years, at least. That money adds up. The attention they get from sharing everything with each other adds up.
Adults need to be impressed, and even then their interest will be moderated. It’s a lot harder to make something a lot of adults are excited about.

I’m experiencing a shortage of self-worth, drive, grit, effort, and emotional regulation. do those count.

I would like berry bushes and flowers, personally.

I think Rowling and West are both examples of where the person’s behavior later changed the way people interpret their art. That doesn’t happen for every piece of art. Like, Hitler made some really nice paintings of flowers. I loved almost everything I saw with Kevin Spacey in it.

It depends on the neighborhood. The poorer the neighborhood, the worse the schools. The poorer the state, the worse the schools. I don’t think it’s really that much different from any other country in that respect. It’s just that America has extremely high income inequality, so there are a lot of blighted areas with blighted schools. Some states in the US are developed and some are rural backwater. The more rural backwater your state is, the worse the overall standard for the schools is going to be. Meaning, in general, even the best schools in a backwater state will be worse off than an average school in a wealthy city.

I have this dream of building my own little socialist company town. where like, instead of people scraping by, we all get universal healthcare and walkable, tree-lined streets.

If you’re seriously wealthy, you could at least get a consultation with some mercenary groups. I saw one American who married into Saudi who managed to coordinate a rescue for herself. But generally when regular people get abducted abroad in countries with weak/corrupt governments, they are totally fucked. No one will violate laws, instigate conflict, put themselves at risk to come get you.

Supposedly there is some cool stuff going on in the medical field where the AI can identify abnormalities in scans better than doctors. But it’s obviously never going to be able to think.

no, if they did nothing, that’d be signaling that they want others to attack them. because there’s no consequence. they already gave a warning strike last time- to indicate that they will strike back when they are hit. .
40-50. The recipes are the only ones I check regularly. The others are just references.
