Are you talking about trans men? Or are you talking about other types of slavery?

I mean, my sex ex courses were mostly taught by conservatives, but we were always told the pull out method alone isn’t going to get the job done. Though, I think it’s supposed to be decently effective if the woman is also tracking her ovulation carefully and you abstain during ovulation.
Pretty sure the re-enslavement of women into perpetual baby makers is part of their plan.

Yea, I feel like this has some civil war outcomes possible.
I don’t know if blue states have steeled themselves enough for it yet, but I don’t think they will take this lying down.

Aren’t a large portion of them glad to have summers off because their kids have summers off? I think if there was a paradigm shift of childcare needs like that, it might not be so bad.

I am actually really angry that in the aftermath of Covid, and all the ground that children lost, that we did not overhaul schools to be year-round like they are in Asia. Kids lost whole years of education with the endless school closures!! Why the fuck didn’t we make it up with the summers?! Why did we just go back to the same shitty broken system?!

Because they had no means to have sex without kids.

Yes.
You can’t let them explore on their own to build independence and confidence without CPS being called on you.
When kids misbehave in public, all the boomers get their panties in a wad. My parents get flustered when the grandkids get loud playing together in a back bedroom.
Getting kids launched well in life, with some chance of adult prosperity, requires thousands and thousands of dollars in private clubs/ competitions/ tutoring/ schools/ etc - the highly competitive nature of the US economy has reached down into elementary aged children at this point. Where I live, people even pay for tutoring to get their children into GT programs.

Don’t worry, only rich communities’ public school were/ are like that in Texas. Schools are funded at the district-level in Texas, so poor communities go to poor schools and wealthy kids go to wealthy schools. If districts get so big that they encompass both, sometimes the wealthy residents try to stage a coup and split the district into wealthy and poor.

Sigh. It do be like that thought.

I think it sounds wrong because the letter “U” is pronounced “yew”, and y is not a vowel. You would never say ‘an yurt’ or ‘an yogurt’. If it was prounced “oo”, then “an oo F O” would sound correct.
But as it is, it just sounds wrong. And whether technically correct or not, I reject it!

Tbf, I like this distraction better that bombing Iran.

Obligatory IANAL, but I think US law is similar. Murder is any premeditated killing of another person. Voluntary manslaughter seems to be spontaneously but intentionally killing another person, and involuntary manslaughter involves criminal negligence that results in someone dying on accident. It seems here they have decided that he was not criminally negligent… Despite the fact that he was drinking, the gun was loaded, he pointed it at her, etc
Texas corruption is just out here showing its ass on the world stage. I would guess some Kool Aid drinking gun nuts got put on the grand jury and empathized with the guy.
Edit: Well, after reading the NY Times article on it, it sounds like the prosecutors office didn’t really try to make a case to the grand jury. The girl’s mother is quoted as saying: She also said that the grand jury in Texas “seemed to have no option but to conclude” that “no prosecution could be brought, based on the evidence they were presented with.”
Oh my goodness!! YES.
You can be my special Lemmy friend.
Prion disease, like generic mutations, really boggles my sense of self. There’s no foreign invader battling your own parts for survival. It’s just the substrate that life gets built upon getting fucked up. It highlights the literal truth in the metaphor that we are biological machines.

Maybe he is. They should have still brought charges against him.

I’m on the fence on this one. How old are they?
On the visit home over Christmas, the idea crossed my mind of retiring there, and I got fairly homesick. I miss the arid, rugged climate. I hate the cold. Being close to family would be nice, and Texas could use more hard-headed, angry liberals. But it’s too dangerous until my uterus is old and broken down and while I’m responsible for other people with functional or soon-to-be-functional uterii. Texas also has water shortage on the near-term horizon from shitty resource management, so it’s best to wait and see where that goes.
But my point is, everyone wants to go home to die, right?

It doesn’t even matter what people on the Internet think of you. Wake up from your defensiveness. America is already at the point now where we are going to have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Texas has long been a lost cause.

Fuck this opinion. Every last member of my family is in Texas. From Austin to Ft. Worth. All the women are liberal and all the men are gun toting MAGAs. Maybe one brother is just a conspiracy-minded libertarian, but the rest are MAGAs. I still love them and visit them, but I don’t want them having any legal jurisdiction over me or my kids.

After they have witnesses of him telling her he didn’t care if she got raped!
Texas, I swear to God. I am from there, all of my family is there. My daughters adore their cousins and beg to move there. Absolutely not.
My MAGA Dad raised his hand like he was going to hit me at Christmas during a political discussion. I was shocked. He is old and feeble, so I told him I would hit him back.
Can there be legal consequences after Trump lackey Ailene Cannon dismissed the charges?
